New shops in Poland and Turkey

Sales network expanded in Eastern Europe

Jan 13, 2012

Bauerfeind AG is expanding its international sales network with the launch of retail outlets in Gdańsk and Ankara. The company's ninth and tenth shops in Eastern Europe were officially opened at the end of November, with physicians, therapists, and politicians among the guests invited to the opening events.

As a "Bauerfeind Competence Center," the new shop in the Polish city of Gdańsk offers customers medical aids from the full range of Bauerfeind product divisions: supports, orthoses, medical compression stockings and orthopedic orthoses. All the products are manufactured in Germany and bear the prestigious "Made in Germany" label. "That is also one of the reasons why customers here choose Bauerfeind. What is far more important, however, is that the products impress with their quality. After all, the patients pay for these products entirely themselves," points out Ulf Harzmann, International Sales Manager at Bauerfeind.

To ensure that the products fit perfectly and therefore have the desired effect, the sales staff use Bauerfeind measurement technology. "Image 3D" makes it possible to determine the right sizes for compression stockings – and even to produce custom-made solutions. The "VenoScan" system checks vein function, while the "MediLogic" measurement system is used to identify pressure peaks under the feet in order to select the optimal foot orthosis.

Around 30 physicians and therapists were keen not to miss out on the grand opening, where they listened to a medical talk and took a close look at the Bauerfeind product range. The shop is located in the center of Gdańsk. The city itself has a population in the region of 450,000, with a total of 1.2 million people living in the greater metropolitan area.

With 4.4 million inhabitants, the Turkish capital Ankara is actually only the second largest city in the country, and since the end of November it has also been enhanced by the addition of a new Bauerfeind shop. The new outlet is similarly equipped to the shop in Gdańsk and offers the entire Bauerfeind product range. Here, too, the customer advisors benefit from state-of-the-art measurement technology. Physicians, customers, and politicians came to the official opening of the shop to gain an initial impression of the range on offer. The Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Sadik Yakut, cut the ribbon.

The Bauerfeind shop is situated in the heart of a European-style, upper-middle class residential area, where hospitals and embassies are also located. "Our sales partner already has local contacts and is now starting to trade under the Bauerfeind flag," says International Sales Manager Ulf Harzmann. Both shop openings were preceded by an intensive training program at the company headquarters in Zeulenroda-Triebes, East Thuringia.
