Good service for the long run
Dr. Alejandro Kotlik Aguilera, vascular surgeon
at Dr. Eduardo Pereira de Valparaíso Hospital in
Chile, often prescribes compression stockings for
his patients. This sometimes means drawing on
personal experience. At the start of last December,
he wore VenoTrain sport compression stockings
during the Costa del Pacifico half marathon in la
Quinta region, which he completed in a time of
one hour and 40 minutes. “Your legs really feel the
difference: they hurt less and feel a lot lighter,”
enthuses the physician. He also has the follow-
ing advice: “Anyone involved in endurance sports
like long-distance running or cycling should give
VenoTrain sport a try. Rather than helping perfor-
mance much, compression stockings are more about
speeding up regeneration.“ It comes as no surprise
that Dr. Alejandro Kotlik Aguilera will be back for
the Santiago Marathon in April – wearing VenoTrain
sport compression stockings.
Swimming, cycling, running – 226 kilometers to the finish
Nice’s Ironman event during the summer of 2011 saw 2,700 athletes giving their all through-
out an entire day – but they were not the only ones. This year a quite unique stand appeared
for the first time at the EXPO village for the Nice Ironman event and proved to be a real hit
with the triathletes. This was the base for a sports medicine clinic from Rouen, known as the
Maison Médicale du Sport (MMS), and a team from Bauerfeind France, who used their com-
bined expertise to support the athletes. MMS boasts a range of different specialists – sports
medicine experts, cardiologists, traumatologists, osteopaths, podiatrists – who work closely
together to care for the athletes.
Triathletes in particular are subjected to specially high levels of physical stress and, as such,
run a high risk of sustaining injuries. The supports, orthoses, and foot orthoses on offer from
Bauerfeind in Nice really caught the eye of the endurance athletes. Another item which
grabbed people’s attention, however, was the VenoTrain sport medical compression stock-
ing, which has been specially designed for training, competition, and recuperation. Franky
Batelier also demonstrated to interested onlookers how anybody can find the perfect riding
position for their own body dimensions, agility, and specific injuries. The former top triath-
lete, a runner-up in the world championships and multiple European champion, now works
for MMS as a sports adviser.
